A: eMyPeople offers several different levels of Internet filtering, along with email only dialup accounts, spam filtering, and web hosting. You can view some of our different plans here.


Q: May I use your internet filtering on an high speed connection?
A: Yes. eMyPeople's internet filtering uses a proxy setting which can be used on a high speed connection such as DSL, cable, etc.


Q: Is it easy to disable the internet filtering?
A: eMyPeople has developed a method to lock the filtering software on your computer so that it can not be bypassed or uninstalled without a password. For a high speed connection, you will need to purchase a router from eMyPeople, or install our included "Dynamite Protector" software on each computer on your network. Please contact us for more info.


Q: Is my email scanned for viruses?
A: Yes. All of your email is scanned for viruses. We also have an advanced spam filtering system implemented.


Q: Can I use Microsoft Outlook to check my email?
A: Yes. You can use any e-mail client that supports POP3 or IMAP


Q: What are eMyPeople's proxy settings?
A: If you are using a Windows computer you should use our automated setup program. The setup program will correctly setup the proxy settings for you.

Q: How do I enter the proxy setting into my browser?
A:    If you are using a Windows computer you should use our automated setup program. The setup program will correctly setup the proxy settings for you.
        - Internet Explorer
    In Internet Explorer, click Tools and then Internet Options.
    Select the Connections Tab.
    Select your dial-up connection, and then click Settings.
    Check the "Use a Proxy Server" box.
    Enter the proxy server address and port.
    Also enter your username and password.
    Click OK and OK.

        - Mozilla Firefox
    In Mozilla Firefox, click Tools and then Options.
    Select the advanced button.
    Click the network tab.
    Then click the Settings button.
    Select Manual proxy configuration.
    Enter the proxy settings in the HTTP Proxy field.
    Check the box "Use this proxy server for all protocols."
    Click OK and OK.


Q: How do I enter the proxy into my antivirus program?
A:     - AVG Free Edition
    Run AVG Control Center (by double-clicking the AVG icon in the system tray).
    Right-click the Update Manager component and choose the Settings option.
    Press the Proxy tab.
    Enter correct proxy server and port number. Also enter your username and password. 

        - Norton Anti-Virus
    Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
    Double-click Symantec LiveUpdate.
    Click the FTP tab.
    Select I want to customize my FTP settings for LiveUpdate.
    Enter the proxy settings.
    Click the HTTP tab.
    Select I want to customize my http settings for LiveUpdate.
    Enter the proxy settings.
    Click Apply.
    Click OK.


Q: I use a Mac computer. Can I still use eMyPeople?
A: Yes. However our automatic setup program will not run on a Mac computer. You will have to be setup manually.


Q: Will there be any additional phone charges?
A: eMyPeople does not charge any additional phone charges. However depending on what access number you choose and your calling plan, you may be charged long distance charges on your telephone bill by your telephone company.


Q: Is there a local access numbers in my area?
A: eMyPeople has 25,000+ local access numbers across the USA, Canada, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. You can search some of our access numbers by visiting this page. If you cannot find a local number, please give us a call.


Q: Can I use my own domain name with eMyPeople eMail?
A: Yes. For an additional fee you can choose your own domain to use for your email addresses. If you already own your own domain name, we can help you set it up so that you can use eMyPeople eMail services with it. (For example, yourbusinessname.com)


Q: I keep getting a "we do not relay" error message when I try to send an email.
A: Follow these steps to correct this problem.
        1. In Outlook Express* click on Tools and then select Accounts.
        2. In the Accounts window, select the mail tab.
        3. Click on your email account and select the properties button.
        4. In the Properties windows, select the servers tab.
        5. Check the option at the bottom that says "My server requires authentication". Click OK and then Close.

*These steps will vary if you are using an email client other than Outlook Express.


Q: How can I reduce the size of my pictures before I email them?

Q: Outlook Express says that it has removed access to unsafe attachments in my mail. How do I view the attachments?
A: To view the attachments that Outlook Express has blocked do this:
    1. In Outlook Express, click on Tools and then Options.
    2. In the Options windows select the Security Tab.
    3. Uncheck the " Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" Box.
    4. Click OK.
