Add an email account to your Android device

Please note: The settings given below are not for cloud-hosted email accounts. Some of the most common cloud-hosted domains are agapemail.com, agapemail.net, agapeinternet.com, and aimail.us. There are also various custom domains which are cloud-hosted. We plan to add instructions for these accounts in the future. This article describes how to add an eMyPeople-hosted email account to an Android device. Please be aware that the exact order of steps may vary depending on your device.

1. Open the Mail App (an icon that looks like an envelope)

2. If there is no account set up yet, you will be prompted to do so. Otherwise, click the menu button > Settings > Add account.

3. Enter your email address.

4. Tap "Manual Setup".

5. Choose IMAP or POP - we recommend IMAP.

6. Enter your email account password and tap “Next”.

7. These will usually be filled in automatically. But in case they are not...
       1. Email address is your email address.
       2. Username is your full email address.
       3. Password is your account password.

8. Incoming server if using IMAP: imap.emypeople.net  (if using POP: pop.emypeople.net)  These server names are correct even if your email address ends with something other than “emypeople.net”.

9. Port: 993 (for IMAP), or Port 995 (for POP)

10. Security type: SSL/TLS

11. Tap “Next”.

12. If you get an error screen or something similar, go back to steps 7-10 and check all the settings. Otherwise, continue with step 13.

13. Check "Require sign-in" or "Login required". This is usually checked automatically.

14. These will usually be filled in automatically. But in case they are not...
       1. Username is your email address.
       2. Password is your account password.

15. SMTP server: smtp.emypeople.net  (This is true even if your email address ends with something other than “emypeople.net”.)

16. Port: 465

17. Security type: SSL/TLS

18. Tap “Next”.

19. Select your sync options, then tap "Next".

20. Account name may be set to whatever you would like. This is the name of the account that you will see in the email app.

21. Your name may be set to whatever you like. This is the name your friends and clients will see
when they receive an email from you.

22. Check "Make this my default mail account" if you want this email account to be the account that other
apps automatically use to send emails.

23. Tap “Finish setup”.
