Setting Up an Email Account in Outlook 2003 on Windows 7

This article is to show the user how to configure an Outlook 2003 email client that is running on Windows 7. At this point, it will not show how to install the Microsoft Office suite.

Open Outlook 2003 and go up to the top to Tools > Email Accounts.

Select the option called "Add a new e-mail account" and press Next.

Choose the option called "POP3" and press next. Note: If you prefer or use IMAP jump down 6 pictures.

Enter your name and email address. Your username is your full email address and password is the email addresses' password.

The "Incoming mail server(POP3)" is: pop.emypeople.net and your "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" is: smtp.emypeople.net.

Note: If you have a custom domain the settings below will work unless you ever switch to a different email provider.

Before pressing next we need to adjust 2 more settings. Click on More Settings located near the lower bottom-right and go to the Outgoing Server tab. Check-mark the option that says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". Leave "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" check-marked.

Click on the Advanced tab and change the number in the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" from 25 to 587. Once done, press OK.

Now, press Next and you should see a window Congratulating you. Press Finish and you are set! Congratulations!

 

For the IMAP users:

 Choose "IMAP" and press next.

Enter your name and email address. Your username is your full email address and password is the email addresses' password.

The "Incoming mail server(IMAP)" is: imap.emypeople.net and your "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" is: smtp.emypeople.net.

Note: If you have a custom domain the settings below will work unless you ever switch to a different email provider.
